This is the Luna Park cafe on Coney Island. We are NOT going there. But we are going to the Kings Park Cafe - despite some downbeat loser attitude from Milton, I mean Gorv.

Big boxes = big lunches!

The great Marton House move of 2006 is going on all around us, and amongst all the hair pulling and swearing there are some grumbling tummies that can be heard over the sound of breaking glass.

Today The Uncle is taking charge, there will be no discussion over this blog (mainly due to only me having internet access!), but verbally (the old fashioned way), there has been a small discussion about going to DNA for a final fling.

The GlenNclusion (tm) is this: 1pm DNA.

Be there.

Approaching the final straight.

The Lans Lunch crowd are rounding the corner into the start of their final week. I'm down the new office again today so I need answers now, now, NOW!

Sin Binners

Oriental Views and Peckers are now official dwellers in the "Seen Been".

Find out why here.

Lunch with a Glenn.

He's been hankering after a lunch all week and demands an audience for lunch to-day!

Anytime between 12 and 2pm but he has hinted that 1pm might be the ideal time.

We've got the "what" and the "why", we just need to decide where, when and who.

Lunch with a Cylon.

Seems fitting when you consider the name of the place.

Who's up for it?

Well done to the Gorv for keeping the blog going through difficult times.

A world of nip tuck

Its like a whole world of nip tuck here in Singapore. Theres a giant food hall with hundreds of little stalls all selling noodles etc. I got duck and rice (no egg) and a soup for a quid. A record that beats Jenksy's effort by a long way. I say soup but it seemed like oily water to me. The woman in front of me alternated it with eating her rice. Maybe Ilias had it right all along!

Super Aguri Nip/Tuck-a-thon!

Last day for an appearance from the Clag-man for a few weeks, so where else could we celebrate but the land of a thousand nips?

The bets are on!

It's been 4 long weeks since The Uncles last official Lans Lunch, today it begins again.

After being weighed down by pies and bowls of latte over the last few weeks I'm feeling kind of like we should be taking it easy...so on that note may I suggest either Nip/Tuck or maybe even the official Yellow River.

Make mine a BOWL of latte!

Here's one for young Jim Watkins, lover of the big cups.

Those crazy New Zealanders are at it again this time with an innovative take on the vessel in which you should sup your latte from. Yes you CAN get your latte in a plain old glass over there but for 50 cents more you get twice as much and a bowl from which to quaff your quaffee from.

No handles on me ma!

Mental.

Letting the Uncle down

Hey Guys! We are letting the Uncle down. He is posting more blog entries than us - and he is in NZ without a computer! Let's get the show back on the road!
Yesterday I had a nice buffet lunch at BAFTA. Great chocolate brownies, but covered in cocoa dust as I ruined my shirt. Being always on the ball I had a spare shirt - so no embarrassment required.
Today - Nip / Tuck???

More Pies.

Today's lunch was once again pies, this time courtesy of the bakery in the small gold mining/panning town of Arrowtown just outside Queenstown...were there too many towns in that sentence?

The simply delicious pies were filled with lamb and mint and vennison respectively.

I would love to bring a huge supply of pies home with me to keep the loafers going for a few days but I fear a 24hr journey on 2 different planes may leave them somewhat flattened - a bit like the possums that went in them.

After eating the pies we went on a jet boat hurtling through Shotover canyon which was a great experience, yet my one regret is that I didn't have a pie to eat on the boat with me then I could've been like that fat kid on the rollercoaster on Jim'll Fix It.

I can't believe my mince pies!

Not of the Christmas variety you understand, these mince pies are pure beef.

These Kiwis love their pies, they just can't get enough of them. They aren't just mince either; lamb, cheese, steak and cheese, lamb and cheese, venison (cheese optional), pork (with injected cheese), hey you can even get possum pie which I think they just scrape off the road and warm up in the microwave.

Not ones to go against the locals fave eats we have sampled our fair share of pies over the last few weeks, the best coming from the Te Papa museum in Wellington which is surprising as we all know the shite that the british museums churn out in their canteens. Oh yes it was a venison and Guiness pie.

So after all that today's lunch just had to be a... burger! Thanks to The Olive Tree Cafe in Te Anau.

Hey it's raining here, it's comfort food.

Probably not. So - where to meet up, Glennclusion etc.

100

We have now past 100 blog entries.

Although not each has been as consistently good as a Hot n Sour soup from Nip Tuck.

American Diner!!!

Being in New Zealand we figured we should try the local delicacies, so yesterday we ended up in the lovely American diner chain Denny's!

Hey, it was cheap...and the burgers weren't dirty!

Hold on to yer shanks!

This week in New Zealand we have been mostly eating...Lamb! Yes those New Zealanders know how to live, if they're not shearing them they're eating them (not always in that order either).

The lamb here is indeed fantastic and we can't get enough of it - not ENOUGH meat that's the problem.

What's all this rubbish on the blog about toast?

In New Zealand the Panini is virtually extinct and the toasted sandwich does indeed live on, in fact today I enjoyed a rather tasty steak sandwich for brekkie.

On a side note, Kate also swam with dolphins this morning...I wanted to try one for breakfast but they have some silly protection laws over here.

Hangi Feast!

Yesterday our lunch was dug up from the ground, quite literally!! We enjoyed an all-you-can-eat buffet with the local Maori folk in Rotorua. Chicken, sweet potato, lamb and chocolate log (cooked in the ground as well obviously!).

More as it happens.

Uncle part 2

Uncle says: Brazilian restaurant a success, in so many ways! "It was an onslaught of meat" said a bloated, belching Uncle.

Photo comes from Kilot. A traveller who features both the restaurant in NZ and the magic roundabout in Swindon in his blog.

From Uncle part 1

Uncle says: We're currently in Kuala Lumpur Airport enjoying the spiciest Tom Yam soup in the world. Even the locals are mopping their brows! Its a real Nip/Tuck

Empty Tummy Syndrome

It's only 5 to 11 and already I've noted 2 counts of the "rumbly tumblies". I don't have a lunch today so I will be eating (within moderation of course), and Timbo has an afternoon in a special bus to look forward to (not something to do on an empty stomach).

Timescales are tight, lunch must be taken at 12pm otherwise the special bus will be delayed and the special people will get antsy.

What will be the Glenclusion(©)?

Burgering = The quest for burger

Ok. This is my first "top level" post in the blog and I must admit that I feel excited about it!

So, let's see.. if you wanted a real nice double burger today.. where would you go to claim it...?!

Monday is special guest day!

Or maybe that should be guest wife/partner day. Last week it was Lynn, this week it's Kate who is on some kind of time off scam from work, which they all call flexitime.

So Nip/Tuck at 12:20, who's up for it?

She has even promised not to offend the locals.

Friday, January 20, 2006

No post, no Glenn-clusion!

Young Glenn had to resort to old fashioned email in order to ask about the lunch today. Loafers we have let ourselves and others down. People now rely on this service in order to get a lunch every day, without us they have no lunch! Disasterous!

So what are we going to do about it? Glenn is coming to the office at 12:30, unless he hears otherwise.

Cheap seats

Is it time for Tim's tight challenge? Every day for less than a certain sum - I'm suggesting £3.00.

Or do we submit and check out La Gondola?

Friday 13th part 1

Unlucky for some. But will it be unlucky for us? Or will we make it to the Station Noodle Bar? Or somewhere else? Nah - noodle bar it is surely!

No lunch Limeys

No lunch today for The Uncle and Tim...but only because we ate so much the night before and again at breakfast that we couldn't stand to look at any!

Last nights 5 course feast was even more of an extravagance than it first may sound as we were the only people in the restaurant and the chef was only cooking for us! He kept sending out little experimental dishes for us to try and then wanting feedback...ow could we refuse! Truly amazing.

What WILL tonight hold????

Next Week

Next Week (Monday and Tuesday) the Uncle and I are away in Ireland. We shall try to let you know of our adventures when we can.
Today? Who knows? I'm doing a bit of voice over with Brian so I'm not sure of the timescales. Personally I can give no Glenn-clusion. I shall leave that for others!

Who shall be our first destination for the New Year?

The Uncle has a cold so maybe the hot Thai!

And check out Karin's post in the previous comments section.
